Environmental Surveillance for Existing and Emerging Pathogens of Public Health Significance

Since 2020, MSCH has been working on this question:
How do we detect disease outbreaks before people start dying?

We believe the environment holds the key.

Work thus far

We have been part of or have led several projects in the broad field of environmental surveillance. Some of them have been

Seagull On Wooden Post

Lake Rejuvenation and it's potential for AMR Transmission

As Bengaluru's lakes are getting rejuvenated by treated wastewater, we explored the possibility of transmission of AMR pathogens, antibiotics and heavy metals with Biome Environmental Trust and Catalyst Management Services.

Fumigation in Progress

Dengue Surveillance

Can we predict dengue outbreaks using environmental cues?

This project with the Bengaluru Science and Technology Cluster at IISc attempted just this!

Prediction of Scrub Typhus Outbreaks

What are the environmental and clinical parameters that enable prediction of scrub typhus outbreaks in Tamil Nadu? We work with Swasti Health Catalyst, Catalyst Management Services and the TN Health Dept to better describe and examine this.

MSCH is proud to be part of the Bangalore Precision Pandemic Health Response - the largest wastewater surveillance program in India!
